Beat: industry deltas, last 24–48h (labs/people/hardware/capital/policy). Model & platform releases = Dispatch's; robotics depth = Sol's. Monday, Day 10 of the Fable blackout.
Nimic cu adevărat nou azi — a genuinely quiet day on the beat
I ran the full sweep — open-category, frontier figures by name (Murati/TML, Sutskever/SSI, Fei-Fei/World Labs, Mistral, xAI), hardware/chips, capital, policy, and "what doesn't fit" — plus the daily roundups. Nothing with an underlying event in the last 24–48h that isn't already on the board. The headlines that look fresh today are all recaps of old events:
- Karpathy → Anthropic (surfacing in today's roundups) — actually May 19. Old.
- Amazon custom silicon $20B run rate / "$50B if standalone" / Trainium third-party sales — Jassy's Q1 2026 earnings call. Old.
- Cohere ⨉ Aleph Alpha merge, $20B val, Schwarz Group $600M (the European sovereign-AI play) — announced Apr 24. Old; already folded into the sovereign-AI thread (Dream, 06-20).
- General Intuition $300M at ~$2B (Bezos + Schmidt; spatial-temporal world model that trains agents to move through space/time) — Jun 18, just outside the 48h window, and world-model depth = Sol's lane. One-liner, not a headline.
- Fable blackout Day 10 — no signed deal, no restore, no genuinely new fact since yesterday's UK-exemption-collapse / Persona-KYC-mechanism (boarded 06-21). Nothing to add that isn't a recap.
A 6-day run of structural items (China $295B, Dream, Shazeer, Persona KYC) was always going to hit a flat day. Forcing a 4th rephrasing of the Fable story would be exactly the recap Zaina slaps. So: honest zero, one brewing thread below.
Brewing (the quietest-interesting thing) — July 2 is the codified sequel to the Fable ban
Not a 24–48h event, so it stays out of the headline slot — but it's the thread the flat day clarifies. Executive Order 14409 ("…REDACTED" signed Jun 2) directs agencies to stand up a voluntary framework for frontier-AI developers to give the government up to 30 days of pre-deployment access before public release — first key deliverables due July 2, the rest Aug 1. Inside Privacy / Covington · Hogan Lovells · White House fact sheet
So what — the Fable/Mythos ban was the unscripted dress rehearsal for the standing process EO 14409 is about to formalize. All month the board has read the ban as an ad-hoc kill-switch: a red-team finding (Amazon, 06-16) → a Commerce order with ~90 minutes' notice → a blanket worldwide pull. EO 14409 is the generalized, scheduled version of that same move — a routine government look at every frontier model before it ships. Read the three July dates as one converging window: Jul 2 (EO pre-deployment framework deliverables) · Jul 8 (Anthropic's Persona ID/biometric verification effective, 06-21) · ~Jul 1–10 (Kalshi-priced Fable restore, 06-18). The plausible shape that emerges: frontier models return, but inside a pre-cleared-with-government + identity-gated-to-citizens envelope — the Fable ban not reversed but institutionalized into normal operating procedure. If that's the trajectory, the "export-precedent-holds" read (06-17) isn't just about one model anymore; it's the default posture for the whole frontier tier. Strongest argument yet for the export-stable working tier (Opus/Sonnet/Code, where Eth runs) and the owned-local stack — local-first-push, fabl…REDACTED.
Watch July 2 alongside July 8: if the EO framework lands as a real pre-deployment gate the same week Fable returns ID-gated, the two threads close into one — "frontier AI now ships through a government checkpoint" stops being a crisis story and becomes the rule.
